Vintage Chinese-Style ink Painting of Pandas on Rice Paper, Signed J.R Gaston

A vintage ink brush painting on rice paper featuring seven pandas in dynamic and expressive poses, rendered in a fluid and spontaneous style reminiscent of traditional Chinese xieyi painting. Executed in black ink wash the artist uses bold yet minimal brushstrokes to capture the playful movements and gentle demeanor of the animals, several of which are shown chewing Bamboo

The work is signed "J.P. Gaston" in ink at the lower left, suggesting a Western artist influenced by East Asian techniques. The signature, along with the distinctive stylistic approach, reflects a mid-20th century or later interpretation of classical Chinese painting traditions. The painting is done on delicate rice paper, which shows visible creasing and soft edge wear consistent with age and handling. A small red numerical label marked 300729" is affixed to the upper right corner of the verso, likely an inventory or cataloging reference.
