This likely antique ceramic dish features a hand-painted blue and white botanical motif rendered in fluid brushwork, typical of 19th-century Tonal ceramics from northern Vietnam. The central design-likely depicting bamboo or a floral arrangement-is framed within a double-line border, with cobalt oxide used to create varied depths of blue under a translucent glaze. The dish has a shallow form with a slightly everted rim and an unglazed foot ring showing iron-rich clay beneath.

This type of ware was produced during the Nguyen Dynasty and shows Chinese stylistic influence while maintaining distinctive Vietnamese ceramic characteristics, such as spontaneous brushstrokes and iron speckling under the glaze. A fine example of Southeast Asian export pottery, suitable for collectors of antique Asian ceramics or decorative arts.Subtle chip pictured.
