Lane Altavista Mid-Century Modern Possibly Walnut Highboy Dresser with Sculpted Pulls and Dovetail Drawers
A finely crafted Mid-Century Modern walnut highboy dresser by Lane Furniture, made in Altavista, Virginia and estimated to have been made in the 1960s (serial number 568240, model 922-11). This tall chest of drawers features a clean, rectilinear form with subtly rounded edges and book-matched walnut grain across the drawer fronts. The five graduated drawers offer generous storage and are constructed with what appears to be solid oak sides, showcasing exposed dovetail joinery for strength and authenticity.
Each drawer is fitted with sculpted solid wood pulls that exemplify the era's organic design language. The case rests on a distinct stretcher base with tapered legs, giving the piece a light, elevated presence. The cabinet is finished on all sides, making it suitable for floating placement in a room. A beautiful and functional example of American mid-century craftsmanship, ideal for both collectors and design enthusiasts.
