The Whale

Description : Bonavista Peninsula, Newfoundland Newfoundland is an island off the east coast of Canada and a wildly underrated place for a spontaneous road trip. After eight days wandering around The Rock, as it’s lovingly known, I wrapped up the trip with a few excursions in search of wildlife. Puffins were a success, but it was looking like we might be a little early for the whales. Hard to blame them—the water and air temperatures both hovered a degree or two above freezing even in late May. But fortunately, the captain saw a spout in the distance and after some patience and a lot of luck, this lovely humpback surfaced close enough to our boat for this image. Fine art prints are individually produced in my studio on a Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 printer with archival inks on top-of-the-line Canson Infinity Rag Photographique paper.
