Who designed the Brasilia collection for Broyhill furniture

The Brasilia collection, designed by Russel Wright for Broyhill in the late 1950s and early ‘60s, was inspired by Wright’s love of Brazilian architecture and design, particularly the futuristic, sculptural forms of Oscar Niemeyer’s buildings in Brasília, Brazil. The collection was part of a broader trend in the mid-century modern era that embraced clean lines, organic forms, and functional elegance, all of which were also showcased at various World’s Fairs during that time.

Russel Wright was one of the most influential American industrial designers of the 20th century, particularly known for his work in the fields of furniture, dinnerware, and home design. His designs were both functional and aesthetically pleasing, and he was pivotal in bringing modern, streamlined design to middle-class homes in the United States during the mid-20th century.
